A New Orleans Heirloom Wedding Suite: Julia & James Brister
There are weddings, and then there are weddings that make you stop mid-press and just take it all in. Julia and James's suite was that for us — a fully custom heirloom collection designed for a black tie New Orleans celebration that was as layered and intentional as the city itself.

From the very first conversation, Julia and her family had a clear vision: they wanted something that felt deeply personal, undeniably romantic, and worthy of being passed down. We got to work, and what followed was one of the most meaningful suites we have ever had the privilege of creating.

The Invitation Suite
The foundation of the suite was the invitation itself — letterpressed onto handmade deckled edge paper in a rich burgundy ink. The irregular, torn edges of the paper give it that unmistakable handcrafted quality you simply cannot replicate with anything else. Every sheet carries its own texture, its own character, and its own quiet proof that someone made this by hand.
A botanical border framed the invitation face, with trailing florals that felt at once timeless and distinctly Julia. The details card was die-cut into a scalloped shape and printed in white ink on burgundy stock — a bold, elegant complement to the softer invitation. A registry and details card was die-cut in the shape of Louisiana in sage green, which became one of our favorite pieces in the entire suite.
The envelope suite continued the storytelling: sage green outer envelopes were lined with a custom illustrated liner featuring the New Orleans streetcar, printed in burgundy on a blush ground. Every time a guest opened that envelope, they got a glimpse of the world Julia and James were inviting them into.
Silk ribbon tied it all together — literally. The suite was bundled and presented with a length of ribbon that brought every piece into one cohesive, heirloom-worthy package.
The Second Line Details
No New Orleans wedding is complete without a second line, and Julia and James leaned all the way in. We designed custom second line handkerchiefs printed with a whimsical alligator illustration — a nod to Louisiana that felt playful and celebratory — along with their names and wedding date in our beloved script. Guests waved them as they danced through the streets, and honestly, we could not think of a more perfect keepsake.
We also created custom Mardi Gras beads with a personalized medallion bearing their monogram and wedding details. They were displayed at the reception alongside the handkerchiefs, and the combination of the two felt so authentically New Orleans that it gave us chills. These are the kinds of details that make a wedding feel like a celebration of place as much as a celebration of two people.

A labor of love, in the best possible way
Heirloom suites like this one take time, intention, and a whole lot of passes through the press. They require custom illustration, custom die-cutting, careful assembly, and a willingness to get every detail exactly right before anything leaves the studio. We would not have it any other way.
Julia and James were married on February 21, 2026, at Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church in New Orleans, with their reception at the stunning Elms Mansion on Saint Charles Avenue. It was a black tie evening in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by people who love them — and we are so deeply honored that InvitoBella stationery was part of their day.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Brister. ✨
